Motion Index — Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 2026

1. Overview

Motion Index uses a minimal set of cookies and browser storage. We do not use marketing cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party analytics.

This policy explains what we use, why, and what your options are.

2. What We Use

Essential Cookies

These are required for the Service to function. They cannot be disabled while using Motion Index.

| Cookie / Storage | Purpose | Duration | |---|---|---| | Session/authentication cookie | Keeps you logged in and verifies your identity across requests | Until you log out or session expires | | CSRF token (if applicable) | Protects against cross-site request forgery | Session |

Local Storage (Browser)

These are stored on your device only and are never transmitted to our servers. They improve your experience by remembering your preferences.

| Key | Purpose | |---|---| | Theme preference | Remembers light/dark mode | | Display mode settings | Remembers your gallery view preferences (grid layout, density) | | Sort preferences | Remembers how you sort collections and search results | | Editor/canvas settings | Remembers your workspace tool preferences | | React Query cache | Temporarily caches gallery and collection data for faster loading |

Local storage data can be cleared at any time through your browser settings without affecting your account.

Third-Party Cookies

When you play an embedded video, YouTube or Vimeo may set their own cookies through the video player. These are subject to those platforms' cookie policies:

Motion Index uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode embed URL (youtube-nocookie.com) where available, which limits tracking until a user actively plays a video.

When you use Google or Apple sign-in, those providers may set cookies as part of the authentication flow.

When you make a payment, Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention and payment processing.

3. What We Do NOT Use

  • No Google Analytics or similar analytics cookies
  • No marketing or advertising cookies
  • No tracking pixels or beacons
  • No session replay cookies
  • No cross-site tracking of any kind

4. Your Options

Essential cookies cannot be disabled while using the Service — they are necessary for login and security.

Local storage can be cleared through your browser settings at any time. This will reset your UI preferences but will not affect your account data.

Third-party cookies from video embeds can be controlled through your browser's cookie settings. Blocking these may affect video playback.

Most browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. For instructions, see your browser's help documentation.

5. Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy if our use of cookies changes. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or via email.
