Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Motion Index — the curated product film reference library for motion designers, creative directors, and agencies.

What is Motion Index?

Motion Index is a curated video reference library for product films and motion design. We hand-select thousands of product films and index them shot by shot, so you can find the right reference in seconds by searching by color, mood, style, or keyword.

Who is Motion Index for?

Motion Index is built for professionals who create, commission, or direct product-focused video content: motion designers, filmmakers, creative directors, agencies, production studios, and brands.

What does 'indexed shot by shot' mean?

Every product film in our library is broken down into individual shots. You can browse the frames from each shot, search across all frames in the library, and find specific moments — like a particular lighting setup, camera movement, or transition technique — without watching entire videos.

How does the search work?

You can search by keyword, filter by color palette, mood, style, product category, and creator. Our visual search also lets you find references that are visually similar to a specific frame or image.

Do you host the videos?

No. Motion Index indexes and references product films hosted on YouTube and Vimeo. We link to the original source and credit the creators, studios, brands, and agencies behind each film.

How much does Motion Index cost?

Motion Index starts at $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year. We offer a 14-day free trial so you can explore the full library before committing.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new account starts with a 14-day free trial with full access to the entire library, search, collections, and canvas features. No credit card required to start.

How is Motion Index different from ShotDeck?

ShotDeck focuses on cinematic reference images from feature films — individual stills from movies and TV shows. Motion Index focuses specifically on product films and motion design, with full video references indexed shot by shot. If you work on product films, commercials, or motion graphics, Motion Index is built for your workflow.

Can I save and organize references?

Yes. You can bookmark any video or frame to your saved library, create collections to group references by project or theme, and use the canvas workspace to build moodboards and pre-production boards.

How do I get in touch?
